Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are reserved for leg days, Tuesdays for chest and shoulders, and Thursdays for my back. It’s fair to say that I work out religiously. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I sprinkle in a cardio workout–timed sprints or jump rope–which always has me busting out in a sweat. By this point, the skin-care products I’ve applied have already melted off my face. To ensure I’m protected from the sun whenever I leave the gym or during an outdoor run, I swap my regular sunscreen for a water-resistant one, and this one from Kinfeld withstands all of my sweaty workouts.
The Daily Dew SPF 35 ($26) offers double duty as a moisturizer and skin protectant. As a sunscreen, the Daily Dew punches in at SPF 35 and stays on during my 20-minute runs. Unlike other sunscreens, it doesn’t drip in or sting my eyes while running, jump roping, or performing a high-intensity exercise like burpees. I’ve even sweated in this sunscreen during 90-degree weather, and the product stays on.
Formulated with glycerin and sea kelp, the sunscreen pulls water to my skin’s barrier, keeping it hydrated and nourished. It’s also formulated with aloe vera, which has soothing and healing properties, Gretchen Frieling, MD, a board-certified dermatopathologist previously told Well+Good.
The sunscreen has another staple ingredient: sunflower extract. “Sunflower extract has been shown to improve the skin barrier, something that is impaired in people with sensitive skin and eczema,” says Rachel Nazarian, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist based in New York. As someone who has lived with dry skin and eczema, I didn’t find the sunscreen irritating or drying, so I consider that a win.
When applying, I squeeze a dab of product onto my finger tips and apply generously. Despite the sunscreen having a white color, it doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin. The sunscreen runs on the thicker side, so it takes me a few swirly motions to fully blend the product into my skin, but the extra hustle is totally worth it. After application, my skin looks dewy and glowy.
Another bonus? It’s reef-safe and doesn’t contain any any active or harmful ingredients like oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, and octocrylene, aka the worrisome “Os.” Instead, this sunscreen contains zinc oxide, which the FDA classifies as a safer ingredient because it has fewer particles that could penetrate the skin.
I’m not the only one who raves about this product. Dozens of shoppers enjoy using it, too. “I was looking for a sunscreen that I could wear everyday and actually enjoy putting on, and this is it! It goes on silky smooth, doesn’t break me out, smells amazing, AND provides lasting sun coverage! The perfect sunscreen does exist,” one customer said. Another writes: “I started using it as my daily moisturizer. It is lightweight and doesn’t have all of the chemicals I try to avoid, like propylene glycol.”
Whether you’re in the market for a new sunscreen or looking for a sweat-proof one, this is a sign to upgrade to Kinfield’s Daily Dew.
