In the ’90s, The Body Shop reigned supreme for all-things beauty. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone in your home ec class who didn’t have a tub of its coveted body butter hidden away in their locker rooms‚ it was that good. (And still is!)
While other beauty brands have come and gone, The Body Shop is still a goldmine for efficacious products infused with expert-approved ingredients, like tea tree oil, avocado, and coconut. And good news for us—it’s up to 60 percent off for Labor Day weekend.
Through September 6, the nostalgic beauty brand we know and love is discounting some of its stock, including some of the best vegan, natural products you can buy. Whether you’re in the market for a soothing new serum, a gentle face wash, or an entire set of skin-care essentials, you can find it discounted at The Body Shop this weekend. Shop by special ingredient, below.
From DIY toothpaste to a laundry booster, the benefits of tea tree oil are far and wide. This includes hair and skin care, as it’s a natural anti-fungal and antimicrobial essential oil. In hair, experts recommend using it to break down all the gunk and buildup caked up on your scalp.
On the skin side of things, you’ll want to use it judiciously. Given tea tree’s drying quality, a little bit goes along way against acne, red spots, and other blemishes. Or, if things get ~funky~ (think: fungal infections, bug bites, etc.) drop a few droplets of the stuff and let its anti-fungal properties go to work. With something that’s slightly infected, you want to knock out any germs that are going on in there. Those are great instances to add tea tree oil by itself,” Amy Galper, certified aromatherapist and educator at the New York Institute of Aromatherapy, previously told us.
But the best way to use it on skin is with other oils, especially fatty ones. “The only way it can get carried in is by blending it with a fatty substance like a lipid-rich oil like olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil, almond oil,” explained Galper. “Any of those rich oils and then it can get carried into the body and make contact with our blood vessels.”
Lucky us: All tea tree products are 25 percent off through the month of September. Use the code TEATREE25 on these goodies below.

By now, you probably know aloe vera is a lifesaver after crispy days on the beach. While it’s a superstar for soothing sunburn (say that three times fast) it’s not just an after-sun savior. As Josh Axe, DNM, a doctor of natural medicine and founder of Ancient Nutrition, previously explained to us, the gelatinous ingredient is actually loaded with fatty acids, sugars, and enzymes that make it a great addition to your everyday skin-care routine. From moisturizing and hydrating to fighting off dark spots, you can’t go wrong with a lil’ aloe—even if it’s straight from the plant.
And of course, it is a hero healer that can be used reactively (aka, to heal burns) but also proactively. “Aloe vera is packed with antioxidants that reduce free radical damage, fight inflammation, and naturally slow the aging of cells,” Dr. Axe said. “Using plants rich in antioxidants on your skin can promote healthy aging by nourishing the skin and reserving signs of skin damage.”
Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser — $10.00
Originally $18, now $10
Ever woken up to angry, red skin you just aren’t sure what to do with? Get this cleanser. Its creamy texture melts into skin, allowing its aloe infusion to soothe redness, puffiness, and irritation while adding moisture, too. Best part is, it’s sensitive-skin friendly, so you won’t have to fret about upsetting it either more. There’s no fragrance, preservatives, alcohol, or color, so you can wash worry-free.
Loaded with vitamin E and other good fats, avocado is one of the most moisturizing, restorative naturals you can put on your face. Research shows that those healthy fats nourish the lipid bilayer of your skin, strengthening the skin barrier and encouraging new growth. Other studies show that, given its load of antioxidants, it’s a wonderful anti-inflammatory and can protect the dermis from all sorts of environmental stressors.
Tl;dr: avocado isn’t just good for toast. Treat your skin with these treats.
Avocado Lotion-to-Oil — $10.00
Originally $15, now $10
Nourish your body from your head to your toes with this melty lotion. It starts as a lotion, but with a little friction, turns into a luscious oil that transforms even the driest, thirstiest skin. And it smells heavenly, too, blended with notes of almond, coconut, and vanilla.
Avocado Body Scrub — $12.00
Originally $24, now $12
Start moisturizing the minute you step in the shower with the gentle exfoliating scrub. Like the lotion, it’s fueled by Hass avocados full of skin-slurping fats. Only this has a physical exfoliator to help slough away dead skin and grime while you wash.
The reason you see so many coconut beauty products? Coconut oil is a beauty buff. Like avocado oil, it’s loaded with feel-good fats that replenish the skin, hair, and scalp. Most commonly, you’ll see it used as a hydrator, but it’s also a skin-soother, too.
“Coconut oil is a natural anti-inflammatory, and full of fatty acids that help improve the skin barrier,” Rachel Nazarian, MD, board-certified dermatologist once told us. “It also melts into the skin easily with a little gentle rubbing, and it can feel cosmetically elegant. Because of this, it’s earned a pretty impressive following of people who love to use it on their skin.”
Creamy & Dreamy Coconut Essentials Gift Set — $19.00
Originally $30, now $19
This gift set is creamy and dreamy, indeed. This gift set includes coconut-oil infused everything, including a shower gel, body butter, hand cream, and soap. Ideal for those getting a head start on their holiday shopping, or just want an excuse to treat themselves.
Coconut Bronze Matte Bronzing Powder — $10.00
Originally $20, now $10
Want to keep that summer glow going into fall? Add this bronzer to your cart. Although it’s a powder, it’s enriched with Fair Trade coconut oil sourced from Samoa, so your skin will get those hydrating, soothing benefits when it’s on. Available in dark, medium, and fair shades.
Carrots and eye health go hand in hand, but the bunny-beloved veggie is fabulous for your face, too. Earlier this spring, Anar Mikailov, MD, a board-certified dermatologist, shared with us that this is because carrots contain beta-carotone, a molecule commonly found in plants that’s beneficial for a number of skin concerns. “Beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A, which is known to address multiple signs of aging–it helps boost collagen production, increase cell turnover rate, which helps firm and brighten the skin,” he said.
Although they’re not as powerful as retinol, which is vitamin A’s purest form, they are worth adding into your skin care regimen for brightness and collagen production. “If you’re looking for exfoliation or a reduction in acne, you want to leave carrots alone and choose a product with retinol. But if you are looking to try something new that can gently help brighten skin, give carrots a try.”
Carrot Wash Energizing Face Cleanser — $8.00
Originally $17, now $8
Discover just how magical carrots can be with this gentle foaming face wash. Carrots and aloe come together to wash away the day’s build-up, brightening and hydrating the skin at the same time. It’s all vegan, made with Fair Trade ingredients, and packaged in recyclable bottle, so you can feel good about adding it to your cart.
